Dean Close Tennis: Strengthening Links with the LTA
At Dean Close Schools, our tennis programme continues to thrive, with strong links to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and fantastic achievements from our talented players. From elite training opportunities to team successes, our pupils are making their mark on the court.
Regional Recognition and National Debut
A huge congratulations to DCPS pupil Benjamin, who was invited to attend a prestigious LTA Regional Performance Camp at Bath University. These camps, led by LTA 10&Under National Pathway Coaches and selected regional performance coaches, provide an additional training experience for promising young players. They offer the chance to train with the best players in the region up to three times a year, supporting their long-term development.
Dean Close was well represented at the camp, with our very own tennis coach, Nick Edwards, selected as a regional performance coach to attend. His involvement highlights the strong reputation of our coaching team and ensures expert guidance for our players at every stage of their journey. Having both a Dean Close player and coach at this high-level training camp demonstrates the school's growing presence in performance tennis.
Adding to his achievements, Benjamin will also be competing in his first national-level tournament this month. This is a fantastic milestone, and we wish him the best of luck as he takes on this exciting challenge!
U18 Teams Reach South West Finals
Our U18 Boys’ and U18 Girls’ teams have secured their places in the LTA Schools South West Finals – a testament to their hard work and dedication. These finals, held at Bath University after half term, will see them compete against the best school teams in the region. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and look forward to seeing them in action.
With elite coaching, strong LTA partnerships, and a thriving competitive environment, tennis at Dean Close Schools continues to grow. We look forward to more exciting achievements ahead!
