Fourth Form Impress in 'Plastics in the Ocean' Pitch Finale

To conclude the Plastics in the Ocean topic, the Fourth Form have been pitching their innovative solutions to tackling marine pollution to the Dragons in a lively and engaging final showcase.

From ocean drones to plastic thread, alongside creative ideas such as jewellery made from recycled plastics and the intriguingly named Polex, the range of proposals demonstrated both imagination and strong engagement with classroom learning. Each idea was clearly rooted in the scientific and geographical theory explored throughout the unit.

The Lower Sixth Geography Dragons took their role seriously, questioning each group in detail and challenging the pupils to justify their designs, feasibility, and potential impact. This rigorous interrogation encouraged the Fourth Form to think critically about sustainability, scalability, and real world application.

There was also plenty of humour in the room, as some of the Dragons appeared to have a little too much confidence in certain ventures, resulting in a few questionable investment decisions alongside some genuinely promising innovations. A number of the ideas showed real potential and may well develop further beyond the classroom.

The event provided an excellent conclusion to the topic, showcasing creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking across year groups within Dean Close School.
