GCSE and A-Level Drama pupils take a trip to the Bristol Old Vic
Our A-Level and GCSE Drama pupils travelled down to Bristol last week to watch the amazing 'Metamorphosis' at the Old Vic Theatre this week.
Frantic Assembly were the theatre company bringing Kafka’s grizzly tale of human suffering to life and the visual style, physical performances and memorable storytelling truly had the students captivated. This tale of one ordinary man’s transformation into a gigantic insect was brilliantly told through physical theatre and an ever-changing set design and it truly gave life to this metaphor of humans disintegrating under pressure.
Oue pupils and staff were incredibly fortunate to have the lead actor, Felipe Pacheco, come into the foyer after the show to talk about his process and answer questions from the pupils. Our very own Miss Dickens studied with Felipe at University and so she was able to introduce him to us and it was a brilliant opportunity for the pupils to ask about the play that they had just seen as well as about all aspects of theatre performance.
One stand-out question was ‘how do you not lose your voice?’ to which Felipe was able to give some incredibly useful hints and tips on what it’s like to be a professional actor. This was an enthralling show which the students thoroughly enjoyed.
