Junior House Public Speaking Competition Showcases Exceptional Talent

On Thursday evening, we were delighted to host an impressive display of confidence, clarity and critical thinking in the Helen Porter Hall as pupils took part in the Junior House Public Speaking Competition. Families, staff and pupils enjoyed a varied programme of speeches, each delivered with conviction and thoughtful preparation.

Blythe was awarded Best Speaker for her powerful and articulate speech on Misogyny in the Media, a topic she handled with maturity and passion. The Best Chair award went to Luis, whose engaging introduction to the unusual and intriguing subject of Magnetars set the tone for his team’s presentation. Tom earned Best Questioner for his incisive and challenging questions following Olivia’s provocative speech on Hypocrisy in Religion.

In a closely contested adjudication, the Best Team award — and overall winners of the Junior House Public Speaking Competition — went to the Dale House trio of Luis, Harry and Nathan, whose teamwork, delivery and handling of questions impressed the judges.

The evening was a celebration of thoughtful argument, confident delivery and collaborative effort, reflecting the strength of public speaking across the Junior Houses.
