Under 14’s Netball South West Regional Finals in Bournemouth

Our Under 14’s Netball Team had the amazing opportunity to travel to Bournemouth and compete in the Netball South West Regional Finals. The 7 head strong girls’ team set themselves the challenge of securing a top 2 finish in order to proceed to the Semi-Finals.

The tournament consisted of 6 games, starting with a match against Penair. The entire team pulled together and managed to secure a spectacular win. Later on, the girls had to face Clifton, which was a truly physical battle, and they put in an incredible amount of teamwork and effort and came away with a well fought draw with a final score of 8-8. The Girls kept their spirits high and faced the rest of the Finals with a lot of enthusiasm. In the following matches against South Wilts Grammar School and Taunton, they were able to claim a win as well as a draw, respectively.

After a day of witnessing astonishing sports talent, our netball girls had to face their last game of the day against Bournemouth. The tension in the air was almost palpable and both teams presented us with their best efforts. Our girls’ team put up an amazing fight and, although they lost against Bournemouth missing out by only one goal, they showed remarkable sportsmanship.

Unfortunately, our Under 14’s girls did not proceed to the Semi-Finals. However, they went toe-to-toe with every school they faced and

showcased impressive game play, maintaining morale throughout the entire competition. We are immensely proud of all their achievements on the day and the team’s exceptional performance promises a bright future for further regional competitions.

A big well done goes to: Charlie, Maisie, Mady, Alice, Poppy, Fenella, Rose, Ivana, Florrie, Jess and Anjola, who represented Dean Close impeccably.
