NMR Masterclass Inspires Sixth Form Scientists

On Thursday 16th January, Dean Close School welcomed Dr Jean-Paul Heeb, Head of the NMR Department at UCB, for an insightful masterclass on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.

Dr Heeb provided a fascinating explanation of how this powerful analytical technique works and its vital role in modern analytical chemistry. Pupils gained a deeper understanding of the capabilities of NMR technology and how it is used in industry to solve complex scientific challenges.

The session offered a valuable glimpse into life as an analytical chemist, with pupils thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to learn from an industry expert.
