Pre-Prep Dives into Under the Sea WOW Day

On Monday 17th November, children at our Pre-Prep were treated to an unforgettable Under the Sea WOW Day as the cast of The Everyman Theatre’s upcoming production of The Little Mermaid swam into school to kick start a day filled with ocean-themed adventure.

Meryasek – King of the Sea, Sennen and Merryn, better known as the Little Mermaid herself, led a lively whole-school assembly that captivated pupils with tales of their deep-sea discoveries and the Little Mermaid’s journey to unearth the fascinating secrets of life above the waves. They even brought along some ocean friends, Zennor the seal, Chip the crab, and Lady Kipling the fish, who helped bring the underwater world to life.

During the Q&A that followed, the curious young audience dipped their tails in with plenty of questions, from how the sea creatures appear to swim on stage to how the cast manage to create the illusion of water during the performance. The charming query, “Are any of you famous?” had the whole hall laughing.

After the assembly, the children spent the day exploring a host of Under the Sea-themed activities, from creative crafts and storytelling to ocean-inspired games. The highlight was without a doubt the transformation of pupils into a spectacular array of marine creatures, from mythical mermaids and toothy sharks to playful fish and charming crustaceans.

The best news is that the adventure doesn’t end there. In just a few weeks, our older year groups will visit The Everyman Theatre to watch The Little Mermaid live on stage, continuing their voyage beneath the waves.
