Over the Christmas holidays, a group of 43 students enjoyed an unforgettable week of skiing in the stunning resort of Myrkdalen, Norway. Each day, the students skied for five hours with their instructors, honing their skills and enjoying the incredible conditions.
The beginners made fantastic progress, perfecting their turns, mastering the chair lift, and even skiing through the trees and playing in the powder. Meanwhile, the more advanced groups thrived on the varied terrain, skiing through waist-deep powder and carving sweeping turns at speed down the groomed pistes. Everyone had their share of fun on the rails, bumps, and jumps.
Evenings were filled with relaxation and camaraderie. Students spent time at the hotel playing cards, took
part in a lively quiz with another local Cheltenham school, and explored the nearby shopping centre. A horse and cart ride through the snowy village was a magical experience, but the highlight for many was the snowshoeing evening. Under a full moon, we trekked to a traditional lavvu (Sámi tent), where we paused to enjoy warming gløgg before continuing our snowy adventure.
It was a wonderful week of fun, adventure, and bonding. We returned home in one piece, memories made, and with a taste for a daily dose of smoked salmon!
