Symphony Orchestra Trip Inspires Dean Close Music Scholars

Yesterday evening, more than 20 Dean Close Music Scholars travelled to Symphony Hall, Birmingham, where they met fellow musicians from Kingham Hill School for an evening of outstanding orchestral music performed by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

The concert, which was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, showcased the dynamic direction of the CBSO's new Music Director, Kazuki Yamada with the orchestra delivering captivating performances of works by Debussy, Grieg, Bax and Anna Clyne.

The evening provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to experience live professional music-making at the highest level. The programme showcased an exciting range of musical styles, offering plenty of inspiration for the young musicians in attendance.

Our Music Scholars thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the chance to share the experience with pupils from Kingham Hill School. It was a memorable evening of exceptional music, broadening their appreciation of orchestral repertoire and demonstrating the power and artistry of a world-class symphony orchestra.

The trip was a wonderful addition to the scholars' musical education and an inspiring reminder of the opportunities that live performance can offer aspiring musicians.
