Tents, Teamwork & Triumphs: A Field Day to Remember

On Tuesday, pupils not taking exams took part in our Trinity Term Field Day – a day which offers an enriching break from the classroom, allowing pupils to engage in co-curricular activities designed to broaden their horizons and develop valuable new skills.

Mrs Larkin-Lawton led a dynamic programme for our 4th Form Duke of Edinburgh pupils, who practised essential expedition skills including cooking on Trangias, pitching tents, and planning routes in preparation for their upcoming practice walk.

Meanwhile, Colour Sergeant Legge delivered a CCF inspired day which was both exciting and competitive for the pupils in Remove. This consisted of a house competition rotating around a carousel of strategic, problem-solving, and teamwork-based challenges. Highlights included a communications exercise and the 'Gun Run', both of which brought out great energy and collaboration among our pupils.

In the Lower Sixth, Ms Mathieu coordinated our Community Action programme, enabling pupils to venture beyond the Dean Close campus, engage with our local community and make a positive impact. Pupils volunteered with local charities, primary schools, and care homes, reflecting the school’s strong commitment to the value of contribution and social responsibility.

The day was a huge success, with pupils embracing each challenge with enthusiasm, curiosity, and collaboration. Staff and activity leads played a vital role on the day, as Assistant Head Co-Curricular, Mr Baber-Williams, remarks: “I am forever grateful to staff who always support so willingly, and to the activity leads for organising such fantastic opportunities for our pupils.”
