Young Artists Gather for Annual Art Skills Workshop
Just before the May half-term break, Dean Close School proudly welcomed pupils from several local primary and preparatory schools for its second Art Skills Workshop to have an engaging and creative afternoon dedicated to developing artistic talents.
The vibrant mix of young artists from Dean Close Prep School, Dean Close St. John's and Leckhampton Primary School gathered to explore new techniques and enhance their creativity.
The event started with a tour through the Bonbernard Gallery guided by Senior School Art Teachers and Art pupils to provide insight into an impressive display of GCSE and A Level artwork. They shared their interpretations of the pieces and the inspirations behind them, offering a unique, peer-led perspective that enriched the experience for all attendees.
After an engaging tour, everyone enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, providing a chance to unwind and connect before moving into the practical workshop. Led by the talented Art Department team at Dean Close School, the workshop focused on collage-making, encouraging pupils to experiment with different materials and imagery to produce individual, imaginative artworks.
The day wrapped up with every single pupil having curated an entirely unique piece of work, and prizes were given to those that had created some of the most striking creations in the workshop.
Overall, the second Art Skills Workshop was a wonderful success, inspiring creativity and leaving all attendees with a sense of pride in their artistic achievements. Dean Close School is proud to have hosted such a memorable event for the second year in a row and we already can't wait to see next year's wonderful creations.
