This year’s 6th form Symposium followed a familiar pattern – an excellent Greek meal on top table, prepared for us by the kitchen staff. Thereafter, we retired to the department where colleagues entertained the 6th form Latin and Greek scholars with some interesting excursions into classical culture: JMA – the Aristonothos Vase, BKW – Martial, KMOB – Honey in the Ancient World, FS – the poet Moschus and the myth of Zeus and Europa, DRE – 6th century Athens and the General Election (!) and finally, CW – reflections on the historian, Edward Gibbon.
