Talks@DCPS Anita Corbin,, Tuesday 15th January 4.30pm (all parents)

On Tuesday 15th January we welcome award winning photographer Anita Corbin to school to talk about her First Women UK Tour.

First Women comprises a unique collection of 100 photography portraits capturing women in the UK who were ‘first’ in their field of achievement. The portraits provide inspiration and insight for a new generation of women seeking an understanding of their own roles in a rapidly changing world in which equality is still an issue.  First Women, The Collection, is about women’s achievements, and one woman’s exploration through the camera lens that endeavors to answer the question: How will women be remembered over the past 100 years? What have they achieved in the fields of Sport, Science, Politics, the Arts and Education? And who were these remarkable ‘first’ women and what did they look like?

Anita’s own achievements:

Sunday Times/Nikon under 25 Photojournalist Scholarship 1981

1st Class BA Hons Film and Photographic Arts 1981

A letter for Year 7 parents with details on their Healthy Living Day, Thursday 17th January (Year 7 parents)

Healthy Living Days form part of the PSHCE curriculum and are active off timetable sessions designed to chime with the key topics of communication, wellbeing, self-esteem, relationships and sex education.  Year 7 and 8 have two a year.  They are organised by our own staff with the help of guest speakers and professional fitness/outdoor instructors.  You will always be informed by clarion in advance when they happen and they are in the calendar.  They are great fun, and a chance to reflect on what it means to be a young person growing up in what can be a confusing but exciting world.
