General notices

Snowy Weather Update (all parents)

The forecast is for no more snow tonight and tomorrow, therefore school will be open as normal tomorrow. Please note:

  • Year 3 and Year 4 swimming lessons will take place as normal tomorrow, Saturday 2nd February.
  • All matches have been cancelled and so pick up for all day pupils is 12.15pm.

E-Safety Week (all parents)

In conjunction with Safer Internet Day on Tuesday the 5th of February, we are marking the occasion with an assembly introduction to the theme of ‘Together for a Better Internet’; and some break-time activities throughout the week involving consideration of some scenarios online, and advice on how to protect ourselves. We are also devoting the PSHCE lessons this week to the study of how to understand what correct behaviour online means and the meaning of consent.

For more information including parental advice, see the website

House Music Competition, Tuesday 5th February (all parents)

Please click here to access the Programme for Tuesday’s House Music Competition Finals Day.  After several weeks Mrs Godley and Mr McVittie have heard over 600 performances, many of which were memorable, a good number for the right reasons!  It has been our hardest task ever to whittle it down to the final classes and we would like to thank all of the pupils for their hard work preparing. Please remember that this is a competition and how we perform on the day is not always a true reflection of who we are. This is the nature of competition! Some days’ things go well and at other times we are disappointed.

We are very pleased to be welcoming bassoonist, Mrs Tanya Charlesworth to come and adjudicate the finals. Parents, friends and family are welcome to join us in Centenary Hall throughout the day. It is a real boost to the performers to have an audience, so please come if you can. The singing finals are always very popular and it would be nice to see as many for some of the instrumental finals, which are always superb. Best of luck to all of the finalists.

PSHCE Lifebus, Wednesday 6th February-Friday 8th February (Years 3-7 parents)

Parent Breakfast Workshop, Saturday 9th February (all parents)

Parents from Year 3 – 8 are invited to the first Parents Breakfast Workshop on Saturday 9th February 8:30 – 10:00am, in the Centenary Hall.

The session will begin with an opportunity to meet with other parents and enjoy a selection of breakfast refreshments in the atrium. This will be followed by a short talk from Madeline Stanimeros, a locally based parenting consultant, author and speaker who also happens to be a mother of five!

She will explore the topic of how parents can nurture independence in their children, whilst offering the love and support they need.

How do parents manage the tension between letting go, whilst being courageous in holding onto the truths and habits which are at the base of their relationships with their children?

How do parents move away from ‘spoon-feeding’ their children and encourage them to think for themselves, without compromising on the values they may value as a family?

There will be an opportunity for discussion and questions.

As a pilot, the event is going to be filmed and those unable to attend can request a copy of the recording to be sent to them – please let Mrs S. Clark know if this is of interest.

For the purposes of catering, please RSVP to Mrs S. Clark ( by Monday 4th February.

Any further questions should be emailed to Mrs L. Hunt (Head of Pastoral)

Tewkesbury Abbey Service, Friday 15th February

Friday 15th February is Half Term for the whole community. All parents are warmly invited to attend our very special service at Tewkesbury Abbey that now will begin at 12.30pm and not 2.45pm. This is the second time that the whole of DCPS will join together for a service in this remarkable place of worship and the visit allows us all the opportunity to have a glimpse of what our choristers do on a regular basis.

Pupils may leave for Half Term from Tewkesbury straight after the service, which should finish at approximately 1.35pm.

In order to ease congestion at the front of school any pupils may be picked up from Tewkesbury Abbey. Pupils should be signed out by House staff who will be in the Abbey. Pupils being picked up from here will have been asked to take all their belongings with them. If you are using the option of picking up from Tewkesbury Abbey please could you inform the Day Houses by Wednesday 13th February.  All other pupils will be taken back to DCPS and can be signed out from Houses from approximately 2.15pm. Any pupils not picked up at the Abbey by 2.15pm will be brought back to DCPS for collection form the houses. At Half Term we ask that all pupils be picked up by 4.30pm.

To help with parking we would also like to suggest the following options:

  1. There is parking available on the tennis courts by the Bacon Theatre and by the astro turf pitches.
  2. Sports Hall
  3. Shelburne Road and Hatherley Court Road (please be considerate to residents by not blocking driveways).

Front Door Access to Centenary Hall (all parents)

Please be aware that the front door into the Centenary Hall will be locked from 5.00pm Monday-Friday and at 12.10pm on Saturdays. This means there will be no exit or entry through the front door. All access to the Centenary Hall should be through the side gate and the rear door backing onto the field.

Pink Dinner, Friday 1st March (all parents)

Please click here to access information about this event hosted at Dean Close to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Charity.
