Please bring in any books (new or in good condition), suitable for babies up to 11 year olds to your Houses. The books will be stacked to create the shape of a tree and the House with the greatest number will win a prize. Thank you for your support – why not use the opportunity to have a spring sort out!

Exeat Pick Up Friday 8th March (all parents)

Friday 8th March is an Exeat for the whole community. All parents are warmly invited to attend our Chapel Service that begins at 2.45pm in the School Chapel. Pupils may leave for Exeat straight after Chapel which should be from 3.35pm.

In order to ease congestion at the front of school any pupils along with their siblings may be picked from the Chapel. Pupils should be signed out by House Staff from the Old Gym. Pupils being picked up from here will have been asked to take all their belongings to take home with them which will be stored until pick up. If you are using the option of picking up after Chapel please could you inform the Day/Boarding Houses.

All other pupils will be taken back to DCPS and can be signed out from houses from 3.45pm. On Exeat weekends we ask that all pupils be picked up by 5.00pm.

Parking on Exeats can be very hard, therefore to help with parking we would also like to suggest the following options:

  1. There is parking available on the tennis courts by the Bacon Theatre and by the astro turf pitches.
  2. Sports Hall
  3. Shelburne Road and Hatherley Court Road (please be considerate to residents by not blocking driveways).

Important Internet Advice on current Anonymising App MOMO Challenge (all parents)

We are very aware and it has also been reported nationally about a current urban myth, concerning MOMO. We will not raise issues like this with children, as this may feed their curiosity, which is the very nature of children. As a school when children raise a concern we are reassuring them and explaining what it is in an upbeat, light hearted way allowing the children to talk.

The school would advise all parents and carers to remain vigilant in regards to their child’s use of social media and to engage them with conversations about the risks of using such apps and sites.

Among the most common signs to watch out for include children who:

  • Become very secretive, especially about what they are doing online
  • Are spending a lot of time on the internet and social media
  • Are switching screens on their device when approached
  • Are withdrawn or angry after using the internet or sending text messages
  • Have lots of new phone numbers or email addresses on their device

Please click here to access a recent news article.

If adults are concerned or have any questions on how to approach the subject with their children, they can contact the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000 or visit the NSPCC website.

Children who are worried about their activity on apps or online games can contact Childline 24 hours a day, online and over the phone on 0800 1111.
