Seminars & Events: Upper 6th
Prepare for Life Beyond School
Please see the attached document for an incredibly exciting and extensive list of Seminars for the Upper 6th to engage with over the next three weeks. We would be delighted if parents could encourage their children to exploit this fantastic opportunity. We have managed to acquire the services of some highly sought-after speakers, and it would be great to have good numbers attending these sessions.
Week Beginning: Monday 8 June
Oxford and Cambridge: Making a competitive application and Q&A
Tuesday 16 June 2.30-4.00pm
In this interactive session, Marrium Khan, Senior Outreach Officer at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, and Dr Scott Annett, Admissions Tutor at Robinson College, Cambridge, will guide pupils through making a competitive application to Oxford or Cambridge. They will talk through how to select a College, key steps in the admissions process, how to write the best possible personal statement, how to prepare for admissions tests, what interviews are like, and offer the opportunity to ask questions about a possible application.
The session will be run online via Zoom with pupils and teachers from schools across the Cheltenham Education Partnership. A sign-up link will be circulated to those schools interested, with teachers from each school liaising with pupils from their school. Please contact Mr Sumner on email@example.com if you are interested in attending this session.
Children of Key Workers
We will continue to offer a provision for children of Key Workers in school and as such we would be grateful if you could email Deputy Headmaster, Mr Andrew Hall on firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like your son or daughter to be educated in school.
Daily Exercise Diary
We are very keen to ensure that all our pupils are maintaining a regular exercise programme, which is proven to be a great antidote for stress, and enhances physical and mental well-being. As such, the Physical Education and Sports Department have created a daily exercise diary for the pupils to complete. It literally takes less than a minute to complete after an exercise session, but will give the PE Department and Houseparents a really good insight into the individual pupil’s activity levels. Pupils can follow this link to complete their diary from Monday 1 June.
Please keep an eye on the DCS @ Home page on the website for further details. If pupils have any ideas of clubs that they want to initiate, Mr Hall would love to hear from you about your ideas.
This week’s Challenges:
