Year 3 Trip to Ashmolean Museum, Monday 2nd March (Year 3 parents)

Year 3 Trip to a Synagogue, Tuesday 3rd Match (Year 3 parents)

On Tuesday 3rd March, Mrs C. Salisbury, Head of RS at Dean Close Preparatory School is leading a Year 3 trip the local synagogue. She will be accompanied by Mrs S. Ridsdale, Mrs J. Sheldon and three other members of staff. The trip takes place in school time and pupils should ensure they have their school coats with them on the day.

Deacon House Charity Event, Thursday 5th March (all parents)

Thursday 5th March is the Deacon House Charity Event. We will be holding a cake sale after school on the CPA. You will need to bring in a £1 is you want to buy cakes and will pay for your cake tokens in House on Thursday morning and then buy your cakes at the end of the day. All proceeds will go to support Family Space.

Exeat Pick Up Friday 6th March (all parents)

Friday 6th March is an Exeat for the whole community. All parents are warmly invited to attend our Chapel Service that begins at 2.45pm in the School Chapel. Pupils may leave for Exeat straight after Chapel which should be from 3.35pm.

In order to ease congestion at the front of school any pupils along with their siblings may be picked from the Chapel. Pupils should be signed out by House Staff from the Old Gym. Pupils being picked up from here will have been asked to take all their belongings to take home with them which will be stored until pick up. If you are using the option of picking up after Chapel please could you inform the Day/Boarding Houses.

All other pupils will be taken back to DCPS and can be signed out from houses from 3.45pm. On Exeat weekends we ask that all pupils be picked up by 5.00pm.

Parking on Exeats can be very hard, therefore to help with parking we would also like to suggest the following options:

  1. There is parking available on the tennis courts by the Bacon Theatre and by the astro turf pitches.
  2. Sports Hall
  3. Shelburne Road and Hatherley Court Road (please be considerate to residents by not blocking driveways).

Music Department Notices (all parents)

There are a number of music events in the next two weeks that parents are welcome to attend:

Tuesday 3rd March – Yeaman House parents

There is a Yeaman House Teatime concert (with refreshments), starting at 4.35p.m in Yeaman House.

Thursday 5th March – All parents (parents of performers will have received an invite)

There is a Performance Platform at 1.30p.m in the Centenary Hall, Rooms 3 and 4 (drama classrooms). All are welcome to attend.

Friday 6th March – All parents

There is a Chapel Service at 2.45p.m which Chamber Choir will be singing at, instead of the whole of Senior Choir and Choristers.  All are welcome.

Dean Close Community Clay Pigeon Shooting, 6th March (all parents)

Please click here to access further information.  Join Old Decanians, Staff, Current and Past Parents at Ian Coley Sporting for a morning’s shooting and tuition.  Suitable for beginners and advanced shots.  Limited spaces available.

Parents’ Activities (all parents)

Do you fancy a hit around each week?  Join us on court!  We would like to promote the availability in the Beginner’s Group, which runs weekly in term time on Mondays, from 8.30am to 9.30am with Tom Harris.  If you haven’t picked up a racket before and would like to give Tennis a try, or if you are a little rusty and want to ease back into your game, they why not come along to the sessions after half term.

We also run Cardio Tennis each Wednesday during term time, from 9.00am to 9.45am which you can just come along to each week with either Jason Poole or Tom Harris.

All sessions take on the Shelburne courts near the School Sports Hall.

Prayer Fellowship Dates (all parents)

At Dean Close we believe in the importance of prayer in underpinning all that we are and do as a school.  The Prayer Fellowship is therefore seen as an essential part of supporting and upholding the school.

The Prayer Fellowship is an informal gathering of parents from the Pre-Preparatory, Preparatory and Senior schools, who meet over coffee to pray for the whole School.  Everyone is welcome to come along.

We meet from 8.30-9.30am at Dean Close House, for coffee followed by prayer.  Lent Term Dates:  Friday 6th and Friday 20th March.

Easter Revision Courses 2020 (parents of pupils studying GCSE and A Levels)

The Easter Revision Course 2020 dates are: Wednesday 15th April – Sunday 19th April (with residential students arriving on the evening of Tuesday 14th April).

All subjects are organised and taught by a team of highly qualified and experienced tutors, to maximise students’ performance in their summer examinations. With small class sizes, quality time is guaranteed for each student.

Places are available on a residential or non-residential basis and alongside their intensive study programmes, Easter revision students have access to the school’s sporting facilities. Residential students will be accommodated in one of our School Boarding Houses.

*Dean Close Offering*

For residential Dean Close students, we are offering an extra nights accommodation on the course on Sunday 19th April. This means that students can stay at Dean Close between the end of the course and the start of the Trinity Term on 20th April.

Ultimate Activity Camps (all parents)

Ultimate Activity Camps will again be running their fun and engaging holiday programmes for children aged 4 to 14m at Dean Close School during the Easter and summer holidays as well as October half term.  Ultimate Activity Camps work with some of the best independent schools in the country and have a strong reputation for quality holiday programmes.  Days run from 8.30am until 5.15pm.

My Stage School (all parents)

My Stage School are delighted to be holding their Easter and Summer Schools at Dean Close Prep School in our fabulous Centenary Hall.

Children of all abilities aged 4 – 18 are welcome, as we work towards a large scale, professional production, with full lighting and sound, on the last day in full costume.  All children have an equal part in the show.
