Please click here to access a letter for Year 8 parents explaining the Target reports. Please note that there is no Emerging, Developing, Secure or Mastering judgement on the Year 8 music reports as Mr T McVittie has been ill and Mrs R Harris has not been teaching the classes long enough to give such an assessment. Every vote counts so please encourage friends and families to get involved!  Thank you!

ABRSM Music Exams (parents of pupils sitting ABRSM Music Exams)

Parents have already been sent a clarion call with the time of each child’s music exam. The music department will be in touch individually with any necessary changes. Please could all parents remind children of the need to arrive in Hardy 15 minutes before their exam time, with their instrument and music for both themselves and the accompanist (not piano or harp). Pupils should present themselves to the steward (Mr T.  Holownia) upstairs in Hardy, where they will be directed to the warm up room for a run through with their accompanist (not piano or harp). It would be great if pupils could be encouraged to do that little bit of extra practice over the weekend in readiness for their exam next week! Results should take approximately 2 weeks from the end of the exam session, which is next Thursday. If you have any questions regarding these exams, please email Mrs Godley (Deputy Director of Music) akgodley@deanclose.org.uk .

‘Transition to Year 9 – a Pastoral Perspective’, Mrs J Davies, Tuesday 17th March (Year 8 parents)

On Tuesday March 17th, all Year 8 pupils are to attend a presentation from Jacquie Davies, the Head of Pastoral, DCS during prep (4.35-5.30pm). This will mark the beginning of a programme about transition to Year 9 which will aim to equip pupils for the next stage of school life, giving them the opportunity to ask questions and discuss expectations and concerns. This is a compulsory event and pupils unable to attend should inform Mr Gould in advance.

Boarders’ Charity Event, Thursday 19th March (all parents)

The Boarding Community are providing breakfast for everyone on Thursday 19th! To raise money for Family Space, they will be selling bacon rolls before school for £1 a roll. Vegetarian sausages will also be available and gluten free rolls. Boarders will also be out at the front of school to provide coffee and rolls to parents as they drop off. Please bring your money, a reusable cup if you have one (we will have some though), and an empty tummy!
