General notices

Start of the School Day and Pick Up Times (all day parents)

Start of Day

At the start of the day, children should not be dropped off at school before 7.45am, unless arrangements have been made with the school for them to have breakfast in the dining room. Any pupils dropped off before 8.00am must go to Oaksey, which is the only Day house open at this time.

All day pupils should be in school by 8.15am when the school conducts a legally-required registration.  Registration is in individual houses and is a key start to the day, as important notices are given and it allows for a positive and up-beat start to the day to be made. If pupils arrive to school late, e.g. after 8.15am, then they should register at the Front Office and then make their way to their respective houses.

If a pupil is absent for any reason or needs to go for an appointment during the day please could an email be sent to their day house and to the Front Office or a phone call to 01242 512217. Any pupil signing out of school between 8.20-4.20pm must be signed out at the Front Office. Email addresses are:

Oaksey – ejwharris@deanclose.org.uk

Yeaman – cjstanding@deanclose.org.uk

Deacon – rbeecham@deanclose.org.uk

Front Office – dcpsoffice@deanclose.org.uk

End of the School Day

If your children are in Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 it is very important that your children are collected by a parent/guardian from the Day House and are signed out of the house with the duty member of staff. Therefore, we would ask that you not pick up until 4.35pm.

However, due to congestion at pick up time on a Friday day pupils in Years 6-8 with any siblings are allowed to sign out from member of staff in a high visibility jacket outside the Centenary Building. If this is something you are interested in please inform your child’s Housemaster/mistress.

Chaplaincy ‘Think Big Week’, Monday 27th January- 31st January (all parents)

The Chaplaincy team are excited to be running the Chaplaincy Think BIG Week over the coming five days. Every morning break pupils and staff will be invited to meet with the team to think through a different big question. Discussions will be considering everything from how people respond when they are treated unfairly, to what the best thing about ‘home’ is. Each question will provide a fresh and relevant way to enjoy uncovering the amazing invitations of Jesus once again. Oh… and there’ll be doughnuts! Big thoughts and big fun. All pupils welcome!

Brass and Wind Day, Monday 27th January (all parents)

Brass and woodwind players of grade 2 and above standard, who regularly participate in school ensembles, will be taking part in DCPS Brass and Wind Day on Monday. Other schools from the area will be joining us for this exciting day.  There is an opportunity to hear the final performances for parents at 3.30pm, with refreshments served from 3.00pm in Centenary Hall.  Parents of those performing will be contacted via Clarion Call.

Performance Platform, Thursday 28th January (all parents)

Our first Performance Platform of the term. Parents and guardians of performers will be invited once the programme is finalised.

Parents’ Tennis (all parents)

We extend our facilities and our expertise to all parents! Dean Close Services run weekly group Tennis lessons as an opportunity for parents to meet, socialise, improve their tennis skills, get fit and have fun.

We would like to promote the availability in the Beginner’s Group, which runs weekly in term time on Mondays, from 8.00-10.00am with Tom Harris. If you haven’t picked up a racket before and would like to give tennis a try or are a little rusty and want to ease back into your game, then why not come along to the sessions!

Don’t forget we also run Cardio Tennis each Wednesday in term time, from 9.00-9.45am, which you can just come along to each week. Cardio  is taken by either Jason Poole or Tom Harris.

All sessions take place on the Shelburne courts near the School Sports Hall.

If you would like further details or would like to book onto the sessions, please contact Lydia Day on: enquiries@deanclosevenues.co.uk or call 01242 267431.
