Highlights of the Week

  • The Lower 6th attended a very hard hitting ‘What If’ lecture on Friday morning, which provided a reality check for young road users, looking at the impact of serious road traffic accidents from the perspective of the Police, Rescue Services and devastated families.
  • The Sherratt Music Competition on Wednesday evening showcased an astonishing array of talent by our post Grade 8 musicians.
  • Speech and Drama pupils took their Victoria College Exams on Monday and feedback would suggest that they performed incredibly well.
  • Really pleased that our U18 team got through to day 2 (last 24) of the Rosslyn Park Sevens Cup Competition. Hot off the press: Dean Close have drawn 26-26 with Whitgift on Day 2!
  • We are delighted that both our U16 and U18 Boys’ Hockey teams won their National Cup quarter-final matches to progress to the finals being held at Lee Valley in London on the 1st and 2nd of May.

HOCKEY ENTHUSIASTS

Sunday 7 April

The Cheltenham U18s have progressed to the English Hockey Cup Semi Finals, this is the first time the U18s have got this far.

The team has 9 Dean Close Players (alongside team mates from King’s and Pates) and we are hosting the game at Dean Close, on Sunday 7th April with a 2.00pm push back. They take on Beeston and they are looking for a huge home crowd to cheer on our boys to help them reach the Finals at Lee Valley.

We would love to see you there!

Ride for Ryder 2019

Sunday 23 June

For the fourth year now as a School we’re supporting Sue Ryder – Leckhampton Court Hospice and hosting their annual bike ride from the sports complex and cricket pavilion, taking place on Sunday 23rd June 2019. Ride for Ryder is charity cycle ride supporting the only hospice in Gloucestershire with inpatient beds.

Previously we’ve had a small team of riders representing Dean Close School so hopefully this year we can encourage a few more to jump on the saddle and help celebrate the Hospice’s 31st annual cycle in aid of Leckhampton Court Hospice.
