Those who were lucky enough to get to the Bacon Theatre this week for the Drama Scholars’ production of And Then There Were None, were once again treated to another first class performance by our hugely dedicated and talented pupils. The gasps from the audience paid tribute to the build-up of tension delivered so believably by the characters.

Not to be outdone by the Drama Department, the Music Department stunned the audience at the Spring Concert at the Pittville Pump Room on Sunday night, with an extraordinary variety of soloists, orchestral pieces, and strings, as well as the Choral Society performing Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in a most flamboyant style.

The Hockey Club continues to produce superb results, with the U16 boys winning both their matches in the West Preliminary Finals on Tuesday, and in so doing, progress to the next round of the National Competition. The 1st and 2nd Netball teams recorded good wins against Bradfield this week, ending this half of term on a really positive note.

We wish everyone a very restful half term break and we look forward to welcoming the Boarders back from 6.00pm on Sunday 19 February, and the Day pupils at 8.15am on Monday 20 February.

Uniform Exchange – 2nd Hand Uniform Shop

The Uniform Exchange is the School’s 2nd hand uniform provision, and is situated within the School Shop following its move last year from Turner Hall. It is available to parents and pupils during the School Shop’s term time opening hours and items can be purchased with either cash or cheque.

Anyone may bring in items of good quality to sell or donate. Bespoke items of Dean Close uniform are particularly needed and sell quickly. Discontinued, old and well-worn uniform, or any items the shop has an excess of, will be recycled.

The money from items sold on behalf of parents is split, with 50% going to the charity of the School’s choice and 50% going back to the parent. This process is now handled by the Bursary.

As there is a constant flow of new items coming into the Uniform Exchange, the Shop would welcome volunteers to help with the sorting and labelling of items. If you have a few hours to spare and would like to help please contact the shop on 01242 258016 or email
