WORLD BOOK DAY: Thursday 1 March

Dean Close will celebrate World Book Day on Thursday with a BIG READ and our yearly BOOK SALE (in partnership with Waterstones). As is tradition, a fair amount of Krispy Kreme donuts should make the event even sweeter.

Extending into Friday, we are very excited to be hosting author Kathryn Evans who will be working with pupils across the school alongside the English Department. Read more about Kathryn at https://kathrynevans.ink.

Talking about reading, please celebrate with us by grabbing a new or old favourite book this week and (re)experiencing the journey that books offer. Pupils will be advised the same and will have the opportunity to purchase a book at our sale (or even get one free via the £1 Book Tokens that each pupil will receive). Books can be purchased with cash, tokens or via the school bill. Please encourage your child to make use of the method you prefer. HAPPY READING!

DRAMA SCHOLARS’ PLAY: NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR

Written by George Orwell, Adapted by Rebecca Vines

BACON THEATRE 1 & 2 March, 7.15pm

We extend a warm invitation to you all to attend what looks to be a very exciting production of this adaptation by Rebecca Vines of arguably Orwell’s greatest novel – and one of the most important novels of the 20th Century (and for our times, never more important). This production is all about education in its broadest sense – it is a novel which our pupils ought to have read and know and understand. Please do come, and encourage your tutees and charges to attend also.

The adaptation will feature some exciting production surprises as events unfold.

The production contains some mild sexual content, and some violence, and mental and physical torture scenes. We recommend a 12 age limit, but that is at your discretion.

Tickets are required for entry.

Dress Code for pupils is school uniform.
