Show week at Dean Close is always exciting and with the Lower School production of Macbeth taking to the stage, it was thus, with the sinister witches setting the scene from the outset. The strong performances from such a young cast give us real optimism for future productions.
The U16 Boys’ Hockey Team won the West Finals at Millfield on Tuesday, securing their place in the National Finals in April, and the Girls’ U18 Team played some really good hockey at their National Finals beating Stockport Grammar 3-1, losing 1-0 to Framlingham and losing 2-0 to Repton, who went on to win the final 5-0. The girls were a real credit to the School. The Golf team were in action on Tuesday against Malvern, but despite some good individual performances in adverse conditions, the team lost 1-4.
We marked World Book Day on Thursday by starting every academic lesson with 15 minutes of reading time, and the audience at our ‘Friday at 6’ were treated to some wonderful soprano singing from Harriet Abbott and Lucy O’Rourke.
Study leave provides an opportunity for pupils to focus on their studies and work independently during the build up to their external examinations, allowing them to plan their time as they see fit. This does not mean that they are isolated from School, teachers will still be available for them if they have any questions and need any help. On Wednesday 8 March at 6.30pm in the Pavilion, Zack Suckle and Romey Tottman will be presenting the 5th Form Parents’ Guide to Revision. The presentation will last about 45 minutes, and refreshments will be served afterwards, providing additional opportunity to ask further questions.
This year, Study Leave for the examination year groups begins as follows:
5th Form Study Leave – Monday 15 May
U6th Form Study Leave – Monday 5 June
‘EMBRACE’ Screening, Thursday 16 March, Bacon Theatre, 7pm
