Notice for Boarding Parents

Exeat Weekends

This year we have offered a number of alternatives for our exeat weekends. It has been very useful for us to look at how these weekends can offer the best possible rest for pupils and staff. We will be using all of the feedback we have received to inform our planning of next year.

The exeat weekend next term includes a national holiday so the school will be closed from Friday 3 May at 4pm with boarders being allowed to return after 6pm on Monday 6 May. Dean Close is not in a position to offer any accommodation over this weekend so individuals will need to make their usual arrangements.

Ski Trip 2020, USA

It is with great regret that we have to inform you that the ski trip to Bolton Valley will not go ahead next Easter. Somewhat surprisingly the trip was very undersubscribed and we did not have enough participants to make the trip viable. I am very sorry to disappoint both you and the pupils who wanted to go, but I am sure that you understand the reasons for cancelling. We are looking into arranging a very similar trip for the Christmas holiday 2020/2021 but will need to canvas the pupil body as to whether they are interested in this first. Parents/guardians who had signed their child up to the trip should have received a separate email on Friday 8 March.

SoGlos Awards

We are thrilled to announce that Dean Close has been shortlisted for the second year running for this year’s SoGlos Awards. Please help us win Best Independent School in Gloucestershire (again!) by voting using the following link www.soglos.com/awards.

If you are not a SoGlos member you will need to register to be able to vote. This takes just a minute! It would be a fantastic achievement for Dean Close if we were to win two years running. Every vote counts so please encourage friends and families to get involved!

CountyLines Production,  4th Form

Monday 18 March, 4.15pm, Bacon Theatre

Following on from the DrugsSenseUK talk earlier on in the term, the 4th Form are watching a play entitled “CountyLines”.  The play deals with the issue of child criminal exploitation and is aimed at raising awareness of what CountyLines is and how it can affect young people; the grooming process and how it can apply to CountyLines; the similarities and potential crossovers between child criminal exploitation and child sexual exploitation; and where to go for help and advice.

Close Community Golf Day

Friday 29 March

All are welcome to join us for a round of Golf at Cotswold Hills Golf Club, Cheltenham. All in aid of Nyakatukura Memorial Secondary School, a School that Dean Close has supported since 2005.
