GENERAL NOTICES

Access to Boys’ and Girls’ Changing Rooms

In accordance with the Foundation’s Child Protection Policy, parents are not allowed in the changing rooms at any time. Please ask a member of staff if help is needed to get anything from the changing rooms.

Dogs on the School Site

Due to an increasing number of dogs being brought onto the school grounds and the dangers associated with excrement and children we would like to clarify the school’s position on the presence of dogs in the school grounds. Members of staff may keep dogs in school, with the permission from the Bursar and with strict guidelines.

Anyone bringing a dog on to site is responsible for the animal’s behaviour and it is to be kept on a lead at all times. The owner is responsible for clearing up and removing any dog waste. Dog owners who are found allowing their dogs to foul school grounds and neglecting to clear up after them will be invited to remove their dogs from the site permanently.

Please remember that no dogs are allowed on the school fields at any point and should be kept on a lead on the paths at all times.

Parents’ Society Talk – James Shone, ‘I Am I Can’, Wednesday 10th October 2019

As members of the Parents’ Society, you are warmly invited to a talk by inspirational speaker and ‘I Can I Am’ Founder, James Shone on Wednesday 10th October 2019 at 7.00pm the Bacon Theatre with refreshments available in the Orangery from 6.30-7.00pm.

‘I Can I Am’ is a charity founded three years ago by ex-teacher James Shone. Following a 16 year teaching career, James was appointed as a headmaster in 2012. During a medical assessment, a brain tumour was discovered. Over the coming months James underwent two massive operations spending eleven weeks in hospital. The operations ultimately saved his life, but took away most of his sight. James had to relinquish a dream job, undergo radiotherapy and set off on his future with no job, no sight and diminished hope.  James’ story is one of determination, courage and positivity.  James will be speaking to pupils earlier in the day but also has a tailored message for our parents followed by a question and answer session.

James is a friend of Dean Close School and an inspiring speaker. If you would be interested in joining other members of the Parents’ Society for what is set to be an excellent evening, could you please contact Sara Clark, Headmaster’s PA on (slclark@deanclose.org.uk)
