If you would like one or two of these tickets, please contact Katie Wells klwells@deanclose.org.uk and she will leave them with Front Office for you. The £7.20 will be added to your end of term bill.

Parents’ Society Talk – James Shone, ‘I Am I Can’, Wednesday 10th October 2019

As members of the Parents’ Society, you are warmly invited to a talk by inspirational speaker and ‘I Can I Am’ Founder, James Shone on Wednesday 10th October 2019 at 7.00pm the Bacon Theatre with refreshments in the Pavilion 6.30-7.00pm. Please note that this venue has moved from the Orangery to the Pavilion.

‘I Can I Am’ is a charity founded three years ago by ex-teacher James Shone. Following a 16 year teaching career, James was appointed as a headmaster in 2012. During a medical assessment, a brain tumour was discovered. Over the coming months James underwent two massive operations spending eleven weeks in hospital. The operations ultimately saved his life, but took away most of his sight. James had to relinquish a dream job, undergo radiotherapy and set off on his future with no job, no sight and diminished hope.  James’ story is one of determination, courage and positivity.  James will be speaking to pupils earlier in the day but also has a tailored message for our parents followed by a question and answer session.

James is a friend of Dean Close School and an inspiring speaker. If you would be interested in joining other members of the Parents’ Society for what is set to be an excellent evening, could you please contact Sara Clark, Headmaster’s PA on (slclark@deanclose.org.uk)
