Saturday Games Timings
In an effort to try and optimise timings on a Saturday to allow for earlier departures, we have made the following changes:
4th Form and Remove
Collection for Day pupils: 2.00pm
In order to accommodate this, we have also made the decision that all 4th Form and Remove can attend school on a Saturday in Games Kit. This will facilitate quicker transitions between lessons and Games. We hope that parents will find this helpful.
5th Form, Lower 6th and Upper 6th
Rugby & Hockey: 1.30-2.30pm
Collection for Day pupils: 3.00pm
Collection for Day pupils: 3.30pm

You can view or download the edition here – https://dcslibrary.com/close-review. We will also be distributing physical copies in Houses over the next few weeks.

Parent Portal & iSAMS Parents App
Please see attached, the detailed instructions for logging into the Parent Portal and subsequent use of the iSAMS Parent App. This gives instant access from your mobile device to a great deal of information about your child’s daily activities at school, including their timetable, reports and sanctions, if they have any.
If you are a new parent to Dean Close and have not received an email detailing your Registration details to the Parent Portal, which looks like the attached document, then do please contact our Database Manager on email@example.com.
For existing parents, please use your normal login details associated with your Parent Portal Account.
Music Concerts this Term
The Music Department is planning to present a number of concerts this term, strictly on a socially distanced, year-group-bubbled basis, and in accordance with Covid-secure guidelines. We very much regret that it will not be possible for parents to attend lunchtime concerts, but we aim to record them and send the link to those who would like to watch it at their leisure afterwards. Plans are somewhat fluid and we will take events one at a time, giving updates via the weekly bulletins; currently we are hoping to be able to present the following:
Thursday 1 October – Lunchtime concert: L6 and U6
Friday 9 October – New 4th Form Pupils’ Concert, 7pm. Please see below for details.
Thursday 15 October – Lunchtime concert: 5th Form
Friday 16 October – Fridays @6: Tom Richardson (violin)
Details of any concerts after half-term will be published in due course.
4th Form Pupils’ Music Concert
Friday 9 October
We are arranging an informal evening of performance for our new Fourth Form musicians on Friday 9 October at 7pm in the Prince Michael Hall. The aim is to allow students to perform a piece and to meet other like-minded musicians. Being mindful of social distancing in the hall, we have to limit attendance to one parent per performer, with a maximum of 15 in total. Parents or teachers may enter children on a first-come first-served basis and priority will be given to music award-holders.
Please sign up by Monday 28 September using this form.
It is very important to note that Dean Close School is a NUT and Sesame Free School. Our catering staff stick fastidiously to very strict guidelines, which can be compromised when pupils bring nut products onto the school site. If you have any queries in this regard please do not hesitate to contact the Health Centre on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cycling to School
We are delighted to see an increased number of pupils who are cycling to school this year and using the new bicycle shed. We would urge all pupils who are cycling to school to wear a helmet as an essential item of Personal Protective Equipment.
Leave of Absence Requests
Any request for Leave of Absence during term time needs to be submitted to the Deputy Headmaster (email@example.com) via the Housemaster, well in advance. Leave is only granted in exceptional circumstances as any absence from lessons, places additional pressure on the pupils to catch up on work that they have missed.
Pupils Driving Into School – 6th Form Only
In order for us to ensure the safety of all our pupils, it is essential that we obtain certain details. If your son or daughter intends to drive to School in the near future, we would be grateful if you could carefully read the attached letter and then complete and return the proforma provided at your earliest convenience to the Front Office. We really appreciate your assistance in this regard. Any requests need to be signed off by Mr Hall, Deputy Headmaster and a parking permit issued before pupils are allowed to drive to school and park on the campus.
A-Level Art Exhibition
We have some magnificent art on display in the BonBernard Gallery which was created by last year’s Upper 6th pupils and we would be delighted for this to be seen by a wider audience. Due to current regulations, this is challenging, but if you would like to view this art work in the coming weeks, please contact the Head of Art Mrs Evans on firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements to view the Exhibition.
Dean Close Parents’ hockey is back up and running! All current and past parents are welcome, and no previous experience is necessary. Join us on the school astro pitches on Saturday mornings at 8:15am for a fun run around. For further details email email@example.com.
