Curriculum Evening Information (all parents)

Please click here to access the soft copy of the Curriculum Booklet handed out at the Curriculum Evenings earlier this week. For those unable to attend our Curriculum Evenings on Monday 9th September and Tuesday 10th September, we set out our desire to shape the DCPS curriculum in a way which best prepares our pupils for an uncertain future. Knowledge and skills will remain at the heart of our teaching and learning, but we also want to ensure key values and dispositions have a high profile and impact. Mrs Hunt talked about Values Based Education (see www.valuesbasededucation.com for more information) and Mr Donnelly stressed that dispositions or habits of mind such as independence, resilience and creativity are not just a bolt on but must run right through our curriculum like the letters in a stick of rock. We are at the beginning of this journey and are keen to involve all stakeholders – parents, pupils and staff – in deciding the best way forward.

AS Tracking Information (all parents)

Please click here to access information shared with parents who were able to attend our Curriculum Evenings on Monday 9th September and Tuesday 10th September.

DCPS Parent Year Group Representatives (All parents)

The Dean Close Parents’ Year Group Representatives (reps) were created to provide parents with an opportunity to be in better contact with other parents in their child’s own year group. The rep is a parent with a son or daughter in that year and their position is totally voluntary. The network engages parents who would like to meet with other parents and be better informed about the sporting, social and business activities that are open to Dean Close parents. It also tries to provide a useful support service for new parents and will be available to help them navigate school and be a welcoming point of contact.

Fundraising (all parents)

After thirty years of service at Dean Close School, Mrs Julie Kent will be retiring from Dean Close this summer. Over the course of this academic year she is trying to raise money for a bursary that would support a child, who would not normally be able to afford it, through their education at Dean Close. To help fund this ‘Foundation Award’, she is organising a Promises Auction in November and is appealing to any parents who may have something to auction.

“Do you have a holiday home, a crate of fine wine under your stairs, maybe you could offer to do some gardening or give up half a cow…? We will auction ANYTHING!”

If you do have any items you would be prepared to auction please contact Mrs J Kent, Shelburne Housemistress and member of the Senior School Music Department on jkent@deanclose.org.uk or contact her on 07770 428439.
