On Tuesday 15th May, the Year One children enjoyed an exciting day out at Sea Life Birmingham as part of the term’s topic about ‘The Sea’.
The children found the rock pool experience fascinating, as they enjoyed the opportunity to feel starfish, sea urchins and a crab. Everyone went on a deep sea journey beneath the ocean, where a variety of fish, hammerhead sharks, and an enormous turtle swam above their heads. It was great fun to see the rays, lobsters and crabs in their giant tank.
The penguin feeding experience was very exciting and it was super to see how the penguins glide beneath the water and leap onto the bank. The 4-D cinema took everyone on the journey of a young penguin, his happy feet and his friends, who had many exciting escapes from killer whales in their quest to find out what was happening to their supply of fish.
The trip provided the children with opportunities to see many of the creatures that we have been finding out about in the classroom and to look at lots of the habitats where the animals live.
