Pupils were flabbergasted to be greeted by Mr Men and Little Misses, as teachers enthusiastically embraced World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite characters. Mr Grumpy, Mr Messy, Little Miss Drama Queen and Little Miss Naughty were just a few of the much-loved children’s charactersteachers impersonated, wearing some very realistic costumes.

“On days like World Book Day, it’s important for pupils to see their teachers getting involved; some of the Mr Men and Little Miss costumes looked like they’d walked straight out of the books! As well as celebrating the value of books and reading, today is a great lesson in participation and, when appropriate, not taking yourself too seriously. Everyone at the Prep School thoroughly enjoyed bringing this important day to life.” said Mr Shelley, Head of English.

“It was so much fun! When we arrived at School, Voldemort ‘magicked’ us out of our cars and the ‘Book Police’ checked that we had brought our favourite books in. There were Mr Men and Little Misses everywhere – they all looked so realistic” said Alice in Wonderland, Year 5.

The younger Pre-Prep children also got involved when they paraded up to show the older children all their costumes. It was a great day of fun, and not just for the children!
