We are really excited to be once again entering a crew into this year’s Arrow Trophy, a sailing competition between independent Schools’ alumni (27 yachts entered last year). Last year’s competition was thoroughly enjoyed by all who were involved.
The competition is in one-design yachts (Sunsail F40), crewed by former pupils and based in Cowes, on the Isle of Wight. Racing takes place on the Solent over the weekend of Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October 2019 with a practice day on Friday 11th October.
We are in the process of selecting a crew, would you like to get involved or know someone who would?
The cost for the weekend is £295 per person, this includes:
- Three days sailing
- Entry fees
- OD Arrow Sailing 2019 sweatshirt
- 2 nights’ accommodation at Alban House, 200m from Yacht Haven marina
- All meals
- The Arrow Trophy black tie dinner on Saturday evening.
- Lifejackets, waterproof coats and trousers if required.
There are up to two discounted places for OD college / university students on the yacht.
The Old Decanian Society have already subsidised some of the costs, but please note that we are open to sponsorship this year, if a sponsor comes on board then these costs may be reduced further. Please let me know if you, or anyone you know would like to sponsor the Old Decanian Yacht (named ‘Close to the Wind’) this year and we can discuss a package.
The Old Decanian Society crew will be headed up this year by Ed Ayres (Gate 2002).
