Reporting System

Full written reports

All pupils are assessed at regular intervals and parents are informed of progress throughout the year. Full written reports are sent home to parents at the end of the academic year. Pupils also receive Target Reports at the end of the Michaelmas and Lent Terms. These reports highlight key targets in all academic subjects for improved overall progress.

Achievement and Effort Grades

The aim of the assessment system is to provide interim written feedback to pupils during the year about how they are progressing at School. Pupils are given an effort grade from 1-6, where 1 in the highest, for all curriculum subjects based on their –

  1. Attitude towards learning
  2. Independence and Perseverance
  3. Organisation and Punctuality
  4. Prep and Home Learning (Independent Study)

The Form Teacher (Year 5 & 6) House Tutor (Year 7 & 8) talks through the assessment sheet with each pupil individually and discusses a suitable target or targets to achieve over the next half term.

A comment is made on the assessment sheet by the pupils’ Form Teacher or House Tutor (Years 7 and 8). The Form Teacher or House Tutor talks through the assessment sheet with each pupil individually and discusses a suitable target or targets to achieve over the next half of term. If a pupil receives a 4 or below for any subject, they should be in no doubt as to what they need to do to improve their effort grade next time.

Parents’ meetings

Twice yearly parents are able to meet with their child’s teachers at a parents’ evening.

Parents are able to contact teachers through the houses, via e-mail or on the telephone to discuss their child’s progress.
