Do you have a child who loves to sing? Have you ever considered entering them for a Choristership, but had no idea what was involved? Every year in the Michaelmas Term we give children between the age of 6-10 the chance to be a ‘Chorister for the Day’.

This year, our event has been postponed because of the pandemic. Please contact our admissions department for alternative options and if you would like more information.

WHAT HAPPENS?

Children arrive at Dean Close Preparatory School, normally in the afternoon. Parents will have a chance to meet key members of staff and receive a short presentation about what it means to be a Chorister in Schola Cantorum. Meanwhile the children will enjoy some professional singing coaching, both from the Director of Schola Cantorum and other key music staff.

The children will then have a break and perhaps play some games with some of our Choristers, before being taken to the magnificent Tewkesbury Abbey, where they will rehearse for the service.

Evensong starts at 5.30pm and we encourage parents to join us at the Abbey. There will also be an opportunity to meet current parents and staff members.

After spending the ‘day’ with us, Mr Bell will contact parents to share further information about becoming a Chorister.
