At lunchtimes and after school there are lots of activities that the children can choose to do. Many of these are sporting activities such as swimming, cricket and hockey, which the children do participate in during games lessons. They can also choose to do these out of season, at a club, if they wish.
There is also the opportunity to learn new skills in other sports such as riding, lacrosse, trampolining, shooting, modern, tap and ballet dance.

Pupils can learn to ride from Year 4 upwards. The children take a packed tea and travel, after school, to Summerhouse Equitation Centre where they are taught by BHS Qualified Instructors; learning not only how to ride but how to look after ponies as well. This ranges from tacking up, grooming, understanding feeding, mucking out and rugging up.
Some of our pupils are beginners, others compete regularly at local competitions. Every year, in the Trinity Term, Dean Close Prep hosts a show jumping competition at Rectory Farm, Cirencester, where many of our riders compete very successfully. There are limited places for this club and an extra charge.
