As part of their Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE), Year Two recently learnt about Remembrance Day and why this year’s Remembrance Day was particularly special; that we were commemorating 100 years since the end of the First World War.
The children also learnt why we wear poppies as a sign of remembrance, they discovered how poppies are made and who the British Royal Legion charity supports. They also made clay poppies which were taken over to display at the school chapel, ready for the Senior School Remembrance Service on November 11th.
Pupils in 2LT also presented an assembly on Remembrance to the whole school and to their parents, explaining why we have this special day. It was a moving and wonderful way for the whole school to remember all the brave soldiers who gave their lives in wars.
