The children came to school wearing red or gold – online or at school – and had lots of fun learning about Chinese New Year for our Wow Day! At school, the children practised using chopsticks by picking up noodles and ate prawn crackers; they even pretended to be Chinese dragons. The children at home also had great fun celebrating, starting off the day by answering the register with the Chinese greeting ‘Ni hao’. They then took part in ‘dough disco’ to Chinese dragon dance music, before learning all about the Chinese New Year Story. The children all had a go at writing Chinese letters and numbers, at home and at school and made lots of decorations including lanterns and bunting. At the end of the day, the children shared all the things they had made and did a Chinese New Year quiz. It was a wonderful day and a lovely way to end the half term.
