Dean Close students are once again celebrating after a very good set of A level results. The overall pass rate isover 98% and 77% of allgradesare A*-B.

Headmaster, Jonathan Lancashire, said: “I am delighted for our A level candidates who have done very well this year. The vast majority have secured their university place and a quarter of all students scored nothing lower than an A grade, with 11 pupils scoring two or more A*s.

Art, Music, Classics and Business students have done particularly well, showing that a varied curriculum that is tailored to each pupil leads to greater success as well as personal fulfilment.

It is also salutary that amongst those who have achieved strongly, almost all had a very busy school life with involvement in leadership, community action, sport, music and drama. I firmly believe that a broad education is better on every level and our leavers have proved this again.

Deputy Head Academic, Mark Tottman, said: “Dean Close pupils have achieved some outstanding A level results this year. Our top pupils scored four A*s and 11 pupils scored 2 or more A*s. As a broad entry school, having had four pupils gain places at Cambridge and many more with places at Russell Group universities, we are truly delighted with the academic progress that all our pupils have made and they should be congratulated on their strong work ethic.”
