Two years ago, Hatherley House and Dean Close Drama worked together to raise money for the building of a well in a rural community of Sierra Leone. This was undertaken by acharity close to our hearts, ‘Rory’s Well’, who have since broadened their work to include helping communities with agriculture, infrastructure and education. As part of this work, we undertook to help them to raise one thousand pounds towards the building of a bridge to link five small villages surrounding our well. This bridge would allow the communities to share access to water, healthcare and education opportunities, all supported by ‘Rory’s Well’. Dean Close Drama’s recent production of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ had a collection to raise money for the project, and it was with great joy that Rebecca Vines was subsequently able to present ‘Rory’s Well’ with a cheque for £2209 – more than double our target!
