Forest School

Our beautiful school grounds include a natural woodland area, home of our Forest School, full of magical adventures and outdoor learning opportunities.  Children are given a balance of exciting planned activities as well as time to play, explore and investigate, enjoying the wonder of nature.

A walk over the school fields takes the children to Base Camp, where the activities of the day are introduced and discussed. Children may also listen and identify birds from their song or work out seasonal changes. The children then spread out around the Forest where they might take part in a natural treasure hunt, create 3D natural art and sculptures, make bird food, paint with mud, construct trails and shelters or examine mini-beasts, to name but a few.

Free time allows the children to let their imaginations soar, playing in the wigwams, clambering up the climbing tree, running through the leaves and exploring their surroundings.

A visit to the Forest School always ends back around the fire pit with the all important hot chocolate and chats about the session. At the end of each term, the fire pit is lit and the children enjoy making toasted marshmallows, fruit kebabs and singing around the fire.
