Equestrian Sport at Dean Close
Dean Close Foundation (DCF) is proud to offer a thriving Foundation-wide Equestrian Programme. The programme is open to all pupils from Year 3 through to Sixth Form, at all ability levels. The emphasis is on promoting and developing potential, encouraging growth, and enjoying experiences with horses and ponies.
DCPS pupils are offered weekly term-time lessons, catering for complete beginners as well as those who wish to progress their riding but do not have access to their own horses. Pupils attend Tumpy Green Equestrian, which supports riders from their very first lesson through to those looking to strengthen and build on their existing riding foundations.
Riding for the Dean Close Foundation Team
Pupils who have their own pony, or have access to a horse or pony, are able to compete. The Foundation offers opportunities for riders to attend National Schools Equestrian Association and School Equestrian Games competitions. Members of the equestrian squad have access to termly team training with exceptional coaches.
For those looking to join DCPS as boarders with their own horses, the Foundation has excellent links with both Rectory Farm and Highnam Court, who offer a variety of livery packages.
The Foundation teams and riders have continued to demonstrate excellence at both national and international level, consistently qualifying for the National Schools Equestrian Association National Final.

The DCF Equestrian Programme hosts three equestrian events across the academic year: the County Cup & National NSEA Dressage at CCR Equestrian in April; our annual Interschools NSEA National and Grass Roots Show Jumping competition at Rectory Farm in June; and the National NSEA Eventer Challenge qualifiers, also at Rectory Farm, in October. These events have grown year on year, attracting schools from across the UK, and they make great family days out.
The Dean Close Equestrian Programme offers pupils the opportunity to develop their talents, giving them confidence, individuality, and the ability to shine in their chosen sport. Equestrian sport is supported, recognised, and cherished across the Foundation. Equestrian Scholarships are available for entry at 11+ in the Prep School.
