Sports Fixtures & results

Sport plays a significant part in School life and our excellent facilities means every child has the opportunity to find something they enjoy. The major games for the boys are rugby, hockey and cricket and for the girls hockey, netball, tennis and cricket. The major games are played on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Throughout the school week children also participate in swimming, athletics and cross-country running, depending on the time of year. A variety of other sports are also available for pupils to try at weekly clubs. These include riding, gymnastics, trampolining, lacrosse, all types of dance and shooting, to name but a few.

Pupils can enjoy the wide range of facilitiessuch as: astroturf pitches, gymnasium, swimming pool, netball pitches, climbing walls and the dance studio, which are available to them throughout the year. A remarkable team of coaches and specialist sports teachers, coach pupils in their games lessons including Angie Pearce (England Hockey Development Officer) and professional hockey coach Gary Tredgett.

It is School policy that each term every child has the opportunity to play for a School team and tours for the School teams take place on a regular basis. In the Lent Term 2018 pupils enjoyed a Hockey Tour to Barcelona.

Matches against various prep schools take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays with the children divided into teams according to age and ability. Parental support is much appreciated at all matches and parents and friends are warmly welcome to stay for tea afterwards.

Pupils are competitive within their own sphere; in inter-House competitions, inter-school competitions or at representative level.  At the top end, Sports Scholars follow a bespoke regime which aims to foster and develop athletic potential through an individually tailored programme which supports and monitors preparation, progression and performance.

Sporting development is enriched by the breadth of top-level coaches, many of whom have played or coached at professional or international level.  A wealth of state-of-the-art sporting facilities include a £3m Sports Centre with aerobics room/dance studio, fitness suite and indoor sports hall facilitating badminton, basketball, 5-a-side football, indoor hockey, netball, tennis, trampolining and volleyball.  We also house within our campus two high spec, floodlit astroturf pitches (with water cannons), squash courts, 20 tennis courts, a 25m indoor swimming pool, indoor rifle range and climbing wall.
