At Dean Close, we are committed to making these two years truly transformative; a time when you will discover passions, forge lifelong friendships and take bold steps towards your future.  The world of choice opens up not only in academic terms, but also in the breadth of clubs, societies, roles of responsibility, entitlements and facilities that exist solely for sixth formers.  

Academically, students have the freedom to specialise, choosing from an exciting range of A Level courses alongside the opportunity to study for BTEC qualifications, offering greater flexibility to match individual ambitions. We are also proud to offer Leiths Cookery qualifications, opening up an alternative pathway for those who want to develop practical, professional skills alongside their academic studies.

Beyond the classroom, Sixth Form life at Dean Close School is vibrant and full of opportunity. Every pupil takes part in our pioneering Nexus programme, which runs thought-provoking lectures, real-world experiences and leadership opportunities — all designed to broaden horizons and foster independent thinking.

Leadership and service sit at the heart of the Dean Close ethos. Every Sixth Former is encouraged to take on meaningful roles through our leadership and mentoring programmes, helping you to grow in confidence, responsibility and character. Whether you are leading a team, mentoring younger pupils, running a society or serving the wider community, you will be supported to make a difference.

Throughout your Sixth Form journey, you will be individually supported by a personal tutor, who will work closely with you on your academic progress, university and career planning and personal development.
