This year, Dean Close staged its own Famelab competition.  The competition seeks to inspire pupils to become scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.

The entire Fourth Form were asked to prepare and deliver a three minute talk in a dynamic and engaging way on a science topic of their choice, with no PowerPoint presentation or props.  Pupils were judged on content, clarity and charisma.  The six finalists presented on nightmares, addiction to mobiles, how owls rotate their heads by 360 degrees, laughter, mitochondria and colour.  Well done to the final placings:

1st Jamie Treatman Clark

2nd Hang Yi Wong

3rd Chloe Dunwell

Head of Science, Aron Needs, said: “The standard of the talks were all excellent and the judges had a very difficult decision to make.”
