Cricket takes place in the Trinity term and the coaching staff are led by former first class cricketer Rob Cunliffe, who joined the School fulltime in 2014. Rob works alongside our Master in Charge, Alastair Milne, who has been running the cricket programme since 2013. The philosophy at Dean Close is to encourage participation at all levels of cricket, while seeking to improve the existing skill sets of our elite cricketers. The 1st XI compete yearly in the National HMC T20 cup.

The School is very fortunate to have outstanding cricket facilities. The main square, which is protected all year round, is near professional standard, and includes a dedicated practice-only square to one side. The U14 pitch, on Chapel Close, is one of the most picturesque locations for junior cricket in the county. There is also a third square, next to Fawley boarding house. There are extensive net facilities, both indoor and outdoor, and dedicated cricket coaches for all levels and age groups.

Winter nets start every January in the Sports Hall and are a great way for the cricketers at Dean Close, whatever their level, to make adjustments to their batting and bowling techniques in advance of the season starting in April.

Parents are welcome to come to watch all matches at Dean Close, and sit on our lovely deckchairs around the boundaries, with plenty of cups of tea available!
