On a beautiful afternoon Dean Close hosted the Severnside girls’ tennis tournament, with separate categories for U10, U11, U13A and U13B.

Our U10 girls came 4th and the U11s were also 4th, but in a very dominant display of tennis we were winners of the U13A, runners-up in the U13A and winners in the U13B. What a great performance! Lorna Willmott and Serena Ihle-Matthews, playing as our 1st pair in the ‘A’ tournament, won their pool matches 4-1, 4-0 and 4-0. Connie Britton and Emma Howitt, playing as 2nd pair in the ‘A’ tournament in the other pool, won their pool matches 4-2, 4-1, 4-1. This meant that the pairs met in the final and, although Connie and Emma put up a good fight, Lorna and Serena retained their title that they won last year, with a 6-2 victory.

In the ‘B’ tournament, our 2nd pair of Amelie Lindsay and Nuala Benson played some good tennis and had close matches, finishing in 6th place. Our 1st pair of Ella Taylor and Daria Bannaya were of a different level to everyone else, winning the U13B tournament without losing a single game:

4-0, 4-0 & 4-0 in their pool matches, then 6-0 in the final.
