Congratulations to the three DCPS Equestrian teams who took part in 40cms, 60cms and 70cms classes at the recent NSEA Grass Roots South West Regional Show Jumping Finals.
For the young riders and novice ponies, the 40cms Final was more about experience and practice than hoping for a placing. However, the team (Katherine and Christina Naylor and Fenella Cradock) all rode excellent clear rounds to finish on a zero score. There were schools from across the South West contesting this strong class so it came as a huge surprise when the DCPS team was called forward into Bronze medal position. All credit to these young riders for their determination to gain this success.
Maddie Melville Smith and Gabriel Mattlè then juggled two ponies each to ride as a team of four in the 60cms and 70cms final. Unfortunately, they had a few poles in the 60cm Final, but having learned from this they regrouped and consequently flew clear round the 70cm Final in fantastic times and finished with a zero score, thereby gaining Silver medal position for the team.
We witnessed some really great riding once again from these young equestrians at an excellent competition hosted by NSEA and Kings Bromyard Equestrian, a really enjoyable event with fantastic results!
