The spectacular hit musical Singin’ in the Rain was this term’s highlight in the life of the Drama and Music Departments, and what a hit is was: Laurence Kilsby as Don and Amy Porter as Kathy wowed audiences for three nights with their stunning singing and dancing, and the whole production was made even more exciting for audiences by wonderful dancing and singing scene (Singin in the Rain) by Laurence under teeming showers of rain on stage. Philli Hall as the screeching Lina Lamont was quite superb, and the comic genius and timing of Sam Wheatley as Cosmo caused a great deal of excitement.

This Musical was full of fantastic and complicated dance scenes; not least in the second half when 48 colourful dancers stepped, tapped, spun and shimmied their way through a catchy Broadway Melody.

This must have been one of the finest bands (under the Director of Music, Helen Porter) in a Dean Close musical, composed of half pupils, half professionals. The audience response was terrific, and the plaudits have rolled in – a testament to a great cast and crew, and a 2014 DCS Musical to remember.
