We were thrilled this week that both our musical entries for the
Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts came first in their
classes and returned to School with two lovely cups, the Rotary
Challenge Cup and the KMF Cup!

The Singing Squirrels entered the U7 class for choirs, aged
7years and under with four other schools. They sang two
songs, ‘Sporting World’ and ‘When just one person’, impressing
the adjudicator with their tunefulness, enthusiasm and
confidence when part singing.

The Squirrel Strings performed a wonderful piece, ‘Jason and the Golden Fleece’ which combined string playing, narrators and percussion to create the story through music. All the children played very well indeed and the adjudicator said how much he enjoyed their music-making and that the string quartet was ‘outstanding’!

We were all very proud of them and they returned to School with their trophies, which they were keen to show everyone!

It is wonderful to see such a large group of our Reception, Year 1 and 2 children wanting to sing and play, clearly enjoying making music together. Well done to all of you and a special thank you to Mrs Bowen, Ms Fleming and Mrs Galletta for working with them every week and inspiring them to achieve such high standards. Thank you also to Caroline Lumsden who worked so hard with Squirrel Strings from the beginning and recently stepped down. I know she would have been very excited to see them play so well!
