The sun shone down on this Year’s Sports Day as pupils, parents, friends and family gathered on the Sports field with their picnics and gazebos for some traditional summer athletics.

In the flat races Chester Maclead (U9) did extremely well, winning both the 70m and the 200m and Lorna Willmott (U13) won both the 100m and 200m. Corinna Clarkson and Andrew King (U12) won both the long distance races (400m and 800m).

Joseph Stocks (U12) was jumping for joy as he won both the Long Jump and the High Jump, Billy Benson (U13) did extremely well winning both the Javelin and the Shot Putt. A firmfavourite on Sports Day is the triple jump, which gathered quite group of spectators, this year it was won by Fisayo Michael-Idowu (U14) and Lucy Humphreys (U14), Silas Jack (U13) and Emily Cox (U13). Full set of results below.

Towards the end of the afternoon everyone was track side for the greatly anticipated relays. Friends and families cheered the teams on with great enthusiasm. The Intermediate Section was won by the Boarders (Boys) and Deacon (Girls). The Senior Section was won by Oaksey (Boys) Deacon (Girls).

The day ended with the first ever final of Tugof War to celebrate 50 years of Co-education at Dean Close. Heats have been taking place between all of the houses over the Trinity Term, with the final taking place on Sports Day, between Yeaman and the Boarders, Yeaman won! The staff and parents thought it looked like so much fun they decided to have their own match, won by the parents.
