It is a great pleasure to wish all of you a very Happy New Year and we trust that you have all had an opportunity to enjoy some time together with members of your families.
The Lent Term isordinarily a slightly congested and busy one, and if the first week is anything to go by, then this is certainly going to be the case! In addition to our normal sporting programme, we have three hockey teams, namely the U16 and U18 boys, and the U18 girls away at their respective National Indoor Finals. Please seeThe Week Aheadfor further details of these important competitions.
There are a number of social events on the horizon for parents to engage in as well as some fantastic lecture opportunities, and for the 5th Form the term starts with their Trial Examinations.
Monday 9 January 2017 – Boarders return from 6.00pm
Tuesday 10 January 2017 – Day pupils return at 8.15am
It is important to note that we start back on Week B of our two week cycle.
School Uniform Policy Change
A decision has been taken to amend the Uniform Policy for the girls with immediate effect from the start of the Lent Term. All girls in the Lower School will be required to wear their school jackets during the school day. This decision has been taken for the following reasons:
- Opinion prevails that the girls look much smarter at occasions when they are required to wear their jackets
It offers parity between the girls and the boys, and
Provides a place for the girls to put their phones.
The girls already have jackets and therefore this comes with no additional cost to parents. With their jackets, the girls also have the option of wearing a jumper, or foregoing that, and simply wearing their jackets. In the classroom, as is the case for the boys, the girls can seek permission to remove their jackets whilst working. If you have any questions in this regard, please do not hesitate to contact Deputy Headmaster, Mr Andrew Hall on firstname.lastname@example.org.
